What's new in TRIOS & Unite 25.3
We are thrilled to share the 25.3 software update with you.
This update includes many new functionalities and improvements in TRIOS Software and Unite. Highlights include a new scan quality overlay and dedicated all-on-x workflows.
Together, these updates make your digital dentistry experience more intuitive, collaborative, and impactful than ever. Dive in to explore all the new features and improvements we’ve packed into 25.3.
Redefining scan quality with TRIOS
Achieve optimal TRIOS scans with a new quality overlay
We have updated the TRIOS scan overlay guidance to help you achieve the best scan results – more intuitively and efficiently than ever before. Now you can scan with greater confidence, as you will instantly see where more data is needed and, in this way, reduce interruptions or unnecessary rescans. The new overlay is enabled by default; this can be changed in scan settings page.
The updated scan overlay guidance includes scan quality, that highlights areas that need more data, so you know exactly where to scan more. It is enabled by default in all scanning workflows.
The scan overlay highlights areas needing more data and fades as you scan. Toggle it on or off in the side panel.
When you stop scanning you will receive feedback on missing occlusal oral health images.

Move fast and easily through workflows with tailored guidance
To support and guide you in scanning, we are introducing new animations and text guidance, offering you clear, step-by-step instructions right where you need them. This helps you familiarize yourself with the steps and scan with confidence and achieve high-quality scans without needing to refer to external manuals or guides.
The animation will play automatically for the first time and can be replayed anytime via the play icon.
The in-software guidance is available for all workflows and tools in the upper left corner, except for denture workflows.
Dedicated all-on-x workflows available
We are excited to announce that TRIOS features a dedicated TruAbutment ioConnect workflow, enabling a seamless scanning experience for all-on-X cases using the ioConnect scan flags. The workflow provides the necessary scans for an ioConnect all-on-X case and are accompanied by animations and text guidance. This ensures a clear understanding and navigation throughout the scanning process, making it easy to scan with confidence.
Alternatively, you can also choose a generic implant workflow in which you will experience a fully guided all-on-x workflow. The all-on-x workflow can be initiated by selecting a bridge with 4+ implants on a jaw in the order form.

Coming in Q1 2026: Straumann Exact™ x TRIOS workflow
We are also thrilled to announce that Straumann and TRIOS are uniting to launch a dedicated full-arch solution with Straumann Exact. A teaser for the Straumann workflow is also available in the software, with full release expected in start Q1.
Seamless TRIOS integration from Practice Management Systems
Take advantage of the improved Practice Management integration with your TRIOS and transform your clinic with these key benefits: Save time, reduce manual errors and easy access to data.
3Shape now integrates with 60+ Practice Management Systems. You can view the complete list integrated Practice Management Systems per country and their corresponding functionalities here and find them in the 3Shape Unite Store. To enable the integration follow the step-by-step guide to enable integration. If your provider isn’t listed, ask them to reach out to us via this form.
Access to Practice Management Integration is offered with any TRIOS scanner except TRIOS Core.
Other improvements
- “Scan only” replaces the previously known Baseline scan.
- Added network performance assessments for all wireless set ups now also on TP-links.
- The postprocessing algorithm has been improved to ensure a quick and easy workflow. This is improved for all scanners
Availability
The new 25.3 update is compatible with all TRIOS scanners. Access to the new functionality depends on the regional availability of Unite 3rd gen (24.1), regulatory approval and integration with the Practice Management System. Please contact your reseller or 3Shape for availability in your region.

Unite 24.1
- All scans in the cloud: TRIOS scans and patient data are stored and encrypted in the cloud.
- Access from anywhere: Scans, patient data, and licenses are available from the cloud on any device, any time. Dongles and client server installations are no longer needed.
- Unite Cloud: A brand new and cloud based mobile app and web platform. Stay up to date, add photos, comments, communicate and track case progress. GDPR and HIPAA compliant.
