Usage and hygiene of your single-use tips

Are TRIOS Ready Tips compatible with all scanners?

No, TRIOS Ready Tips are only compatible with the TRIOS 5 and TRIOS 6 scanner.

How do I use the TRIOS Ready Tips?

First of all, it is important to note that TRIOS Ready Tips are designed for single-use only and are not autoclavable. When using these tips, you also do not need to calibrate the scanner before each new tip, because TRIOS 5 and TRIOS 6 are calibration-free scanners. TRIOS Ready Tips work with caries detection. Just like our SmartTips, it heats quickly, so you are scan-ready in under one minute, depending on environment temperature and humidity. However, as it is single-use, it does not keep track of how often you have scanned. It also does not tell you when to calibrate. The internal red droplet print inside the tip detects the tip type and lets the scanner know whether a TRIOS Ready Tip or a TRIOS autoclavable tip is being used.

Can I use TRIOS Ready Tips on all patients and for the same indications?

TRIOS Ready Tips can only be used in cases that do not require a sterile workflow. You can scan the same number of indications with the TRIOS Ready Tips as with the autoclavable tips.

Are the TRIOS Ready Tips sterile?

TRIOS Ready Tips are hygienic but non-sterile. Each tip comes in a hygienic sealed package and is ready for use immediately.

Can I re-use the TRIOS Ready Tip?

No, the product is intended for single use and needs to be discarded when the patient leaves.

Should I wipe/clean the tips before use?

No, the tip is ready to be used straight out of the packaging.

Can I do cold sterilization of the TRIOS Ready Tip?

It is very unlikely that the window will get scratched during normal use. However, if this happens you should use a new tip to maintain high scan quality.

What is TRIOS Ready Tip made of?

The tip is made of two types of plastic. The tip body is made of ABS plastic and the window is made of a transparent and colourless variant of PMMA plastic.

Why use plastic, and what type of plastic is used?

The choice of tip materials is dictated by the high requirements for optics performance and window quality. The PMMA family of superior plastic prevents the tip being subject to internal stress and allows for injection moulding with minimal residual stress. The tip body is designed to be non-transparent so ABS plastic that binds well with the PMMA was chosen. ABS provides a gas-tight connection and on par opacity and color.
