I was the first employee hired back in 2000 - almost beginning in the “garage”. Starting out as a developer, I have had a ton of different roles over the years, including development of core 3D algorithms, scanner development, patent writing, project management, customer interaction, establishment and management of our scanner production and supply chain etc. Lately, I have had the chance to focus on managing our development projects in the scanner department, as well as talking to our customers. The key thing here is to define what direction the market will take, what will create the most value for our customers, what we need to be able to do – and then to make it happen.
We have a great and very dynamic environment – our technology is really very cool and sexy. We do real cutting-edge 3D technology that solves real challenges for our customers. As an engineer you get to pursue your creative urge to the fullest extent at 3Shape. Everything we touch is about radical innovation, all the time changing the way things used to be done.
At the personal level, 3Shape gives you a lot of freedom in your work to pursue what you believe in. There are no control freaks here – everybody believes in the good in one another. Certainly, you can get all the coaching you want and need, but there is no micro-management.
3Shape is a young, open and very dynamic organisation. We probably still bear the impress of a start-up, with ample enthusiasm flooding our hallways and we are by no means a bureaucratic organization. We also engage in what I would call objective dialogue: it is always the argument that wins – never just seniority.
