New 2-camera scanner with impression scanning capabilities sets new standard for scan speed and detail level
Copenhagen, March 21st 2009 - 3Shape A/S, a world wide leader in 3D scanners and CAD/CAM software solutions, now launches the D700 3D laser scanner offering unprecedented scan-to-market design time to the market for digital dentistry.
D700 represents the next generation of scanning technology and a culmination of 3Shape's scanning expertise. No other scanner on the market offers as extensive indication enabling improved clinical results. D700 also delivers high quality impression scans representing a major leap in digital dentistry and offering higher productivity optimized processing and highly improved return on investment.
The D700 3D laser scanner is part of 3Shape's Dental System™ 2009 also including the intuitive DentalDesigner™ CAD modeling software and the DentalManager™ application for managing and exchanging production files.
Ease of use and market leading array of advanced scan
indications
D700 employs a market unique 2-camera setup and 3-axis motion
system. Along with superior impression scanning this makes D700 up
to 40% faster than the previous D640 scanner from 3Shape when
scanning full cast dental gypsum models. And due to the unique
technology setup the speed by no means comes by sacrificing quality
as D700 guarantees superior scan results and unrivaled accuracy in
object geometry data acquisition.
The D700 also features an unmatched number of advanced scan
indications covering impression scanning, post & core, 14 unit
bridges, articulated antagonist model, deep inlays, pre-preparation
model aligned to preparation model implant position, and
orientation detection, wax-up customized abutment, and wax-up
implant bridges for copy milling.
- The D700 represents a giant leap forward for digital dentistry, says Sebastiaan Cornelius, ZTM at Cordent 3D Center in Holland. The number of advanced scan indications including full arches with complete gingival information now offered by 3Shape is a great advantage compared to other systems on the market. Ad to that the ease of use offered through 3Shape's innovative implementation of technologies the result will be highly improved clinical results and productivity time at any dental laboratory.
Optimized impression scanning minimizes the need for
clinical models
D700 is optimized for impression scanning and effectively scans
impressions and deep inlays where single camera scanners often are
blinded by the cavity.
With D700 the traditional time consuming, dusty and less accurate model making steps is eliminated and impression scanning capabilities is realized through an unparalleled combination of the 3Shape patented 'adaptive scanning' technology and the two cameras with reduced angle.
By instantly going from a physical impression to a high accuracy digital model, turnaround time is reduced significantly as CAD-design and parallel manufacturing of model, coping or crown can start immediately. In some clinical cases the model might not be needed at all, as the 3Shape only adaptive scanning technology intelligently detects incomplete areas and automatically rescans these areas to obtain full coverage of the geometry.
The immediate digitalization of the impression also offers a unique opportunity to initiate client/lab case communication faster, particularly if the scanning takes place in the dentist's office. According to Sebastian Cornelius, Cordent 3D Center, the D700 offers a huge opportunity for higher quality and consistency in digital dentistry.
- D700 offers features which potentially will save model cost at the laboratories. Used at larger dentist offices it will even eliminate the need for sending impressions. It also offers a possibility for instant dialog of treatment and close corporation between dentist and lab. Based on the quantum leap that D700 represents for digital dentistry I foresee a future where lab technicians will only have to scan impressions and gypsum models, concludes Sebastiaan Cornelius.
