ShellDesigner™ is an advanced software package for transforming 3D ear impressions, created by a 3Shape 3D scanner, into models of hearing aid shells or communication devices. The software outputs customized digital shells ready to be manufactured on 3D printers.

Making CAD technology easy for everyone
ShellDesigner™ guides and assists the user through all the steps required, providing a near-automatic production experience. All steps in the design workflow have been transformed from manual labor intensive processes into their digital equivalent, thereby simplifying the user's adaptation to CAD technology.

Design with full simulation
All hearing aid components (transducer, receiver, volume control, battery, etc.) are incorporated into the modeling process.

Feature rich software
ShellDesigner™ is designed to support new product initiatives by containing a rich set of vent types, sculpting tools, surface geometry control and faceplate designs.

Shell DesignerOptimal placements
Automatic placement of electronics and components using feature identification and stacking algorithms. Fine control using assisted feedback, 2D views and collision detection.

Virtual waxing and sculpting
Shell DesignerCreate your own fitting and waxing templates, with many different tools that provide fast, and effective sculpting and cutting.

Provides an accurate modeling experience to validate and visualize insertion. Supports true real-life representation assisted by color and texture mapping of electronics and faceplates.

User-friendly
3Shape ShellDesigner™ provides a full graphical interface customized for shell modeling. Only basic computer knowledge and a minimum of training are required. Unlimited Undo and Redo functionality allows users to move effortlessly back and forth between the steps of the design process.

Workflow automation
Most features are automated or assisted by the system, such as stacking of electronics, collision detection and component placement.

Productivity
The modeling process can be completed in a few minutes, including binaural editing.

Optimal control of results
Advanced options allow users to create smooth-fitting shapes and geometries, including total control of the surface area at the faceplate.

Flexible system
The system allows importing of manufacturer's component libraries or custom designed hearing aid components.

Intel Pentium 4 2.0 GHz, AMD Athlon 2200+ processor or better, 1GB RAM, 10 GB available disk space and NIVIDIA GeForce 4, ATI Radeon X700 or better graphics adaptor. Windows XP/Windows 7 (32 bit).



Hardware configuration recommended by 3Shape
Intel Core Quad, AMD Phenom Quad processor or better. 2 GB RAM, 60 GB available disk space and NIVIDIA GeForce 6800XT, ATI X800GTO or better graphics adaptor. Windows XP/Windows 7 (32 bit).
