EarMouldDesigner™ is a unique modeling software package used to transform 3D ear impressions created by a 3Shape 3D scanner into 3D models of earmoulds for BTE hearing aids, headphone, or noise blockers in a few simple steps. The 3D models designed in EarMouldDesigner™ are ready to be manufactured automatically on 3D printing machines as fully ready to use earmoulds typically offering a much improved fit for the user.

EarMouldDesigner™ is characterized by easy learning, ease of use, flexibility and processing speed.

  • Intuitive interface - the software offers a fully graphical Windows™-based interface customized for earmould modeling. The operator is guided through all the steps of the production process
  • Automation - most of the features can are automated or assisted by the system. Modeling sequences for a specific earmould can be saved and applied to other eamoulds
  • User-friendliness - only basic computer knowledge is required to use the software
  • Ease of use - the operator has the possibility to move back and forth in the design process. The software modifies the model accordingly in real-time
  • Flexibility - EarMouldDesigner™ can model most sizes and types of earmoulds, since the whole ear impression is being modeled. There is no need for pre-sculpting the ear impression before scanning
  • Customization - the program gives you the possibility to define you own earmould templates, which can be automatically applied to any new ear impression
  • Double modelling - EarMouldDesigner™ handles binaural earmoulds: modeling input from one side can automatically be transferred to the other to reduce modeling time and ensure consistency
  • Productivity - the whole modeling process can be completed in a few minutes. Reductions in labor costs are thus made possible compared to current production methods
  • Easy manipulation and visualization of 3D models with SpaceballT motion control device
  • Display options - for optimal design and appearance, the earmould can be visualized inside the patient's ear
  • Real-time processing - all modeling operations are performed in real time on screen. Results can be assessed immediately
  • Easily remove artefacts from the scanned impression
  • Add/remove material from the scanned ear impression's surface
  • Template-based modeling: predefined earmould styles can be applied to the impression. The user can easily modify these templates to optimally fit the given impression. Available earmoulds styles include: skeleton, semi-skeleton, full shell, full shell carved, helix lock, canal lock, canal, etc.
  • Customized earmould tip fittings: normal, rounded, bellbore etc.
  • Customized ventilation channels styles: regular, trumpet shaped, collection, trench, D-shaped, oval, IROS, user-defined shapes, etc.
  • Customizable ID tags and engravings
  • Minimum hardware requirements: Pentium P4 1.8GHz processor with 512MB RAM and GeForce4 graphics adaptor.
  • Hardware configuration recommended by 3Shape: Pentium P4 3GHz processor with 1024MB RAM and GeForce FX5900XT graphics adaptor.
