With DentalDesigner™ individual copings can be created in less than a minute. All design parameters are preset according to the coping material and can be edited anytime during the modeling process. Virtual wax knife tools, automatic margin line recognition, collision detections and other unique functions enhance productivity, design freedom and ease of use.
Advanced connector placement and modeling tools make it very easy to create long-span bridge frameworks up to 16 units.
Virtual full crown shapes (avatars) are easily created using 3Shape’s virtual tooth morphology libraries. Several libraries are included in the standard software package and users are free to create their own virtual morphology entries using 3Shapes’ unique dedicated 3D scanning and library tools.
Advanced crown modeling tools include: smart placement, scaling, morphing and adjusting to the antagonist and neighboring teeth etc. as well as advanced cusp and groove editing features. These features all ensure the fast and easy creation of reality-close restorations.
DentalDesigner™ also makes it possible to create porcelain pressed to metal or zirconia restorations. Two separate files are then automatically prepared for output: one for the structurally correct coping and the second for the pressed ceramic aspect.
These files can then automatically be transferred to their respective manufacturing equipment or center using 3Shape’s DentalManager™.
Full contour crowns can be easily combined with anatomical pontics to create full contour bridges. Users are free to create their own virtual pontic morphology entries using 3Shape’s unique dedicated CAD software features.
Using 3Shape’s tooth morphology libraries and fully customizable parameters, copings can be easily modified. This allows for the creation of prescribed lingual bands, for instance. Critical porcelain support coping aspects are also easily achieved.
DentalDesigner™ enables the creation of individually milled primary telescopic crowns based on predefined geometrical shapes and user-defined angle.
With the 2007 version of 3Shape’s Dental System, users get the possibility to model single wax-ups or anatomical bridges of any size using traditional waxing techniques. These are easily scanned using a dedicated scanning fixture* and software, freely modified and scaled in DentalDesigner™.
DentalDesigner™ automatically adapts the inner part of the structure according
to the scanned preparations and material.

The flexibility of DentalDesigner™ allows the user to design multiple restorations in the same modeling session. It is for example possible to design a bridge from a wax-up and combine it with a coping or crown in the same
modeling session.
Similarly, using the AbutmentDesigner™ add-on module*, users can easily design bridge frameworks and full crowns on top of customized implant abutments.

Unlike typical CAD packages, DentalDesigner™ offers a very intuitive user interface: the modeling of each type of restoration follows a predefined sequence. Each step can be executed using predefined parameters, which can also easily be modified during the process.
Alternatively, designs can be completed automatically using the preset parameters for the chosen material at the push of the new “Finish” button. The learning curve is thus smooth and productivity is improved.
Advanced algorithms automatically detect the scanned die’s margin line. This suggested solution can be easily and precisely modified by the user with easy-to-use software tools.
The user can also easily draw the margin line on the 3D scanned model in a few clicks using the new “Fast Edit” option.
A multi-dimensional interface allows for the optimal creation and placement of connectors between the relevant copings and pontics of bridge frames.
Easy editing and verification tools ensure complete control of the connector's profiles and aspects, thus creating bridges with optimal aesthetic and mechanical properties.
Using 3Shape’s DentalManager™, multiple system users can easily track the restoration in the making. 3D data acquisition, design, inspection, data logistics and transfer to the manufacturing equipment and/or outsourcing center are easily handled*.
Case search and sorting orders is extremely fast and easy, and reliable order information can be retrieved across networks.
