3Shape's D-250™ is a state-of-the-art 3D scanner designed to create accurate
3D scans of dies/stumps, inlay preparations, bridge preparations, bites/antagonists,
wax-ups and full dental casts.
3D copies of the customer's dental casts or dies/stumps are available
within minutes. Saved in an open format, they can be used directly
in 3Shape's modeling software package, DentalDesigner™ or in other third-party
software applications.
The scanning system runs on a standard Windows™-based PC (included)
and requires no specific expertise to be operated.
Example of scanned preparation including the opposing teeth scanned from the bite impression
- Fast - total scan and processing time for one die: 45 secs.
- Full coverage scans all undercuts and inlay preparations automatically using a 3-axis/2 cameras setup
- Easily scans the antagonist from a bite impression
- High stability and minimum maintenance needs
- Scans all colors - laser and camera parameters are automatically adjusted to the scanned material
- Easy remakes - all user input (modelling operations) is saved along with the 3D models
The scanning of a dental cast is performed using an optical scanning system, in which laser planes are projected onto the object. High-resolution digital cameras acquire images of the lines created on the cast. 3Shape’s unique processing software automatically processes the images and creates accurate and fully surfaced 3D models.
- Fast and easy positioning of the objects in the scanner without compromising accuracy
- Consistently high levels of precision are guaranteed by projective geometry and a novel calibration of the laser, cameras and axes
- Undercuts on the original object are automatically captured: the object is placed on a rotation plate (360 degree rotation) and is moved along a linear axis (translation) and a secondary rotation axis (tilt) to ensure maximum exposure of the geometry to the cameras and laser
Overview of various dental items easily scanned in 3Shape's
D-250 dental 3D scanner. From the upper left corner: die/stump, 4-unit
bridge preparation, full cast, inlay preparation and 12-unit bridge.
The D-250 handles most types of dental models, according to your scanning needs: dies/stumps, inlays (incl. deep inlays), bridge preparations (from 2 to 14 units), bites, wax-ups (crowns, bridges), pontics, full casts (up to 16 units), overbites (double scans)
The 3D files can be saved and exported in a number of standard formats,
such as STL. This makes the D-250 fully compatible with all open solutions
and applications available on the market
Continuous validation using Mititoyo™ metrology gauge blocks
Just place the object (cast, bridge, die) in the scanner -no precise
positioning is necessary. Click on one button in the scanning software
and 3Shape's unique scanning technology ensures a complete coverage
of the whole geometry of the object, including potential undercuts
Using 3Shape's unique algorithms, the scanner automatically aligns different
scanned parts (upper and lower bite, stump and dental cast etc.)
The scanner software automatically creates a surfaced 3D model from
the acquired point cloud data. The 3D files are ready to be modeled
in 3Shape's DentalDesigner™ or other third-party software applications
