manufacturers and companies in the footwear design and manufacturing
industry to process, manage, and analyze 3D models of shoe lasts. The
lasts are typically captured by a 3D scanner or imported from a CAD/CAM
system.

3Shape's 3D last system is built on a flexible and scalable platform
consisting of a number of complementary modules with specific functionalities.
This structure allows the system to be configured to suit specific needs
of a given user. New individual modules can easily be added to an existing
system.

The 3D last manager module is at the core of the 3D Last System. It includes a database to store 3D last models and related last information. The database can be searched and browsed at any time using various search criteria. The 3D Last Manager module is also used to export and import data, as well as to interface with the other system modules and the customer's ERP system
This module imports and processes point cloud data from 3D scanners. The processing operations include surfacing and optimization of the mesh created: removal of noise and artefacts and closing of holes. All operations can be performed automatically
This module prepares 3D last data for the 3D Last System. The system identifies the sole and the inner, outer and center lines of the last. It automatically extracts last profiles and curves
Module for analysis of lasts. A number of customer-specific measures are automatically taken to ensure consistent quality levels and to ease further reference
The comparison module is used to analyze deviations between two last models. It is possible to compare two 3D scanned lasts, or a 3D scanned last with a CAD model, or other reference model for quality control and shape analysis
The three available Last Modeling modules allow the user to transform the shape of the last. The modeling operations include adding height for an insole, changing the toe and heel spring, and merging two distinct lasts into a new last
The 2D Standard Comparison module is used to control that 3D shoe lasts match 2D standards profiles commonly used in the footwear industry
